This authentic piece made by hand by the Tarahumara Indians measures 10" tall by 10" wide and comes from deep within the Sierra Madre where they are used to cook over an open fire. Decorated with real leather lacing, the result is a one of a kind clay piece with rustic charm. This authentic unused piece comes with a tri-pod base made of rustic pieces of pine branches, wrought iron and real rawhide lacing.

Tarahumara pottery is artfully made by the age-old coil method. Rolls of natural clay are painstakingly coiled to form the shape of the vessel and polished with a smooth piece of wood. The firing takes place in an open pit fire adding additional character through colorization changes. Some pieces will even have scorch marks from the fire. Then, they are beautifully accented with leather or painted using traditional designs with an earthen stain.

Through this offer, you can add this treasure of the Sierra Madre to your collection of beautiful things and help an indigenous family as they work to earn a better standard of living. The Tarahumara families trade their handcrafts for food and supplies that their families need.
